Suggestions Module

Collect text and media through read-only suggestion channels, vote with reactions, and manage each suggestion from Discord.

The Suggestions module turns selected channels into read-only suggestion boards. Members use a button and modal instead of posting a message directly.

Set up Suggestions

  1. Open Dashboard → Settings → Suggestions or run /suggestion settings.
  2. Choose one or more suggestion channels.
  3. Optionally configure accepted and denied archive channels, author DMs, vote stats, neutral votes, and banned members.
  4. Save the Dashboard change, or complete the Discord channel picker.

Discortics removes member send permissions in each selected channel and posts an Enter your submission below panel with a Submit button. Existing suggestion channels receive one automatic conversion attempt on bot startup. If setup is blocked, grant the requested permissions and save or set up the feature again.

Discortics needs View Channel, Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Add Reactions, Use External Emojis, and Read Message History in each suggestion channel.

Each submission can include text plus up to five image or video files. The files must be 10MB or less in total.

Submit a Suggestion

  1. Open a configured suggestion channel.
  2. Select Submit on the panel at the bottom.
  3. Enter the suggestion text and optionally attach media.
  4. Submit the modal.

Discortics posts a managed Components V2 suggestion container, shows uploaded images and videos in its media gallery, adds the configured vote reactions, and moves the panel back to the bottom. Posting a normal channel message no longer creates a suggestion. There is no suggestion submission command or DM flow.

Members on the banned-users list can view the channel but cannot submit through the panel.

Review Suggestions

Staff need Manage Server. Review commands accept a Discord message link, a channelId-messageId pair, or a bare message ID when only one suggestion channel is configured.

  • /suggestion accept suggestion:<reference> reply:<optional reply> accepts a suggestion.
  • /suggestion deny suggestion:<reference> reply:<optional reply> denies a suggestion.
  • /suggestion status suggestion:<reference> status:<pending|accepted|denied> changes its status.

Accepted and denied archive channels are available only when the server has exactly one suggestion channel. DM Status Change can notify the author after a review. React Only has been retired because all new suggestions use managed modal submissions.

Channel lifecycle

Discortics restores a deleted submission panel automatically. When a channel is removed from Suggestions and is not also used for Confessions, Discortics restores the permission overwrites saved before it became a submission channel.

Existing suggestion posts remain reviewable after a channel setting changes.

Troubleshooting

If a panel does not appear, save the setting again and verify that Discortics can manage the selected channel. If a media submission is rejected, use only images or videos, no more than five files, and keep their combined size at or below 10MB.
